Rotate
The work “Rotate” was inspired by different reflections and visual expressions of art that expose a creation process based on the representation of translation and movement, allowing the perception of displacement through primitive figures and simultaneous variations that move in different directions on several positions on the same axis. You can interact with the work by clicking with the mouse, modifying the movement and direction of the primitive figures. This work aims for the viewer to be immersed in the journey of the composition of elements that are arranged and are part of a constant change.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
The development of this work is based on the premise of generative processes from primitive figures as a means of supporting the creative process. According to Philip Galanter, in his article “The code as a performative speech act”, generative art is an artistic practice in which the artist uses computer tools together with a series of automated rules determined by a mechanism that grants a certain degree of autonomy within the work. In turn, generative art focuses fundamentally on the purpose of the creative process and consequently on the resulting events that manifest without apparent intentionality. In this sense, the author makes a clear distinction with Software Art, which focuses on the program code itself and highlights the code merely as the main artistic material without taking it into account as a tool that provides functionality in the work. Starting from this concept, it is understood that the effect of a work is not the result itself, but the process carried out by the program code and can conclude and be intertwined with the technological, cultural or social meaning of the software. We find a work that addresses a symbolic level of significance that invites us to reflect.
On the other hand, the text “Environments and recreational spaces” by Marchan Fiz Simon, provides a focus on the viewer and their environment as a stimulus within the work. The author derives the concept of “environment” as a space that affects the sensory activity of the viewer, where one object suggests another and consequently occupies a space that surrounds the viewer within the work along with the elements that compose it. In turn, this phenomenon fosters different stimuli, perceptions and sensory experiences, manifesting and integrating the different aspects of the work as a whole. The artistic experiences that the viewer experiences within these “environments” enable different reactions and emotions in the nervous system related to other previous sensory states. In this way, the proposal of the work seeks to achieve, through visual and sound stimuli, different emotions and sensations that depend on the viewer himself, who contributes his perspective, authenticity and personal and artistic imprint.
