resentment
Resentment or in Spanish Resentment, is a work that tells 3 stories in relation to a set of songs by the band Ghost. I was working with some of the themes seen during the year, within these we see music, 3D figures, texture and a play of lights. The lights play an important role in the work, as it allows the viewer to have a little more freedom over its movement. The viewer will be able to advance through the work while admiring the 3 worlds and enjoying it along with the music that corresponds to each scenario.
The idea of this project was to represent 3 different scenarios, each with its own theme and representation. Among them are:
- Kiss The GoGoat.
- Dance Macabre.
- With Clavi With Dio.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
-
Papa Nihil, speaks with frustration with Sister Imperator about Cardinal Copia’s lack of success at the Grammys, in this part “Kiss The Go-Goat” is released, where they tell us (and this is shown in the video clip) Nihil’s infidelity with fans, to which “Sister Imperator” (clarifying that she is not his blood sister) obviously feels betrayed.
-
The second song that appears is “Dance Macabre” it is inspired by the poem by Camille Saint-Saëns, also inspired by the poem by Henri Cazalis recreating the ancient superstition of the Dance of Death. The song talks about wanting to spend one last night dancing with the person you love.
-
The third and last is “Con Clavi Con Dio” (With nails with God) which has a play on words referring to “Con Clavi “With nails” which means the failure of the Messiah. In addition to also being able to interpret it as “Conclavé” which is the meeting held by the College of Cardinals of the church to elect a new Pope.
One of the texts I selected for my work was “The work beyond the object” by HEINICH, Nathalie. (2014). Mainly, because at the beginning of his texts he talks about the fact that the work of art is no longer in the proposed object, but in the meaning behind the work, either because there is no object in itself or because it is an object destined to be discarded, in such a way that the material has no value or does not exist in itself. Furthermore, the author mentions:
… “It can be said that contemporary art has essentially become an art of “telling”” …
To which I myself, previously, wrote the meanings behind each song, in the same way, if we wanted we could relate the songs to each other. Likewise, the work is not limited at all and could be increased with external comments or interpretations.
Finally I want to mention MILLER, Margaret. (1948) and his text “Collage Exhibition”, where at the end of it he mentions that collage cannot be defined as simply an art of copying and pasting, because its meaning is not in its extravagant technique but in the importance of two fundamental themes of art: the nature of reality and the nature of painting itself.
To make it clearer, I will take a part of my work as an example. It should be noted that the images were built based on 2 or 3 different images, because in a certain way there were items of clothing and tones that were not to my liking.
