Imagen-Idea
Using pure lighting, from a single figure and several musical pieces, an enveloping environment is configured that follows a line of development throughout the work.
It represents the possible variations that can be achieved from the same element focused from different points of view.
What we see is the outline of a figure generated by direct lighting on the figure and by the absence of ambient light. This direct lighting may vary in color and position but ultimately it will always be the same light. Thus managing to generate a certain dynamic without the need to use peripheral interactions or an exaggerated number of elements, running the risk of saturating the canvas (which could be desired in some specific case). This then allows us to have a main focus on the illumination of the figure without distractions from the work itself.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
From a previous work I did (“Spotlight”) I perceived the ability of lighting in 3D figures to show something that is not (an illusion) and generate an interesting visual effect based on a central figure in movement. In this case, using a sphere and moving the axes of a single light, the idea is that the viewer can travel with the music and go through the stages proposed by the songs themselves.
Although it does not present a particularly striking effect at first glance, it tries in a certain way to put the viewer into the work itself, presenting a structured route to go through. A route that can be perceived in different ways depending on the viewer and the environment in which they look at it.
I also find it interesting to think about the context of the work, which in this case constantly changes, since the viewer reproduces it in their preferred space, generating many possible ways of perceiving the work, mainly considering that it is based on lighting with a lot of darkness present.
The choice of the soundtrack was as natural as possible, to try to capture the desired feeling without thinking about whether I like a particular artist or not and selecting those tracks that make me feel inside the work and feel like part of it from the beginning.
Regarding the visual content, I had to completely refrain from adding multiple effects and figures in order to entertain the viewer, since it would break with the conceptual code presented.
This concern for the entertainment that the work shows arises mainly from the current world (and many types of art) and its need to have everything instantly with many sensory stimuli, therefore in this work we seek to invite the viewer to go down a little and look at an atmosphere that is more fluctuating than shocking.
