Etapas
This is a work which I thought of calling “Stages”. The aim is to find an abstract and metaphorical look for each user who goes through it. That said, the work seeks to represent the different stages that a human being experiences throughout their entire life; childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age. As it increases, there are visual and sound stimuli that help formulate an idea and that can be different with each person who experiences it, since we all perceive the cycle in a different way. Now, the main stimuli consist of visual changes in the large central sphere which represents the current stage, change of music in the background, the increase in the number of geometric figures around the center which represent the experiences that one has or obtains throughout life and how these also age with us, being part of our growth.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
This work begins with a small geometric sphere created in the center which has an image or texture that is similar to painting. Around it you can see different shapes, which consist of circles, squares and cones, of light colors that rotate around. As the user progresses in the work, the next sphere is larger than the previous one, but its image is different, it has different shapes and colors, it even has more of the figures mentioned above, these being slightly darker; Following the other sphere, it is larger than the other two, its color and texture are more unified but still distinguished; The figures that surround him are many more and even darker in color. Finally, the final sphere is the largest of all, the texture is almost completely unified, it has many more figures than the rest and they are already much darker. Another thing that can be seen throughout is a change in music. In general, this work seeks to ensure that user interaction is important and that a special bond is formed.
Comparing my work with César Aira’s text, he mentions that contemporary art is something that is impossible to describe, which mentions that everything can be art by simply defining a concept, that in current art the important thing is not the fixed work but the procedure, the strategic idea or operation. so I took this concept to do my work, to make it procedures that generate. Another thing I recognize is that in Fricke Christiane’s text she is the one who talks about the emergence of new media, she says that the media changes the materiality of the work since it is not only a unique object but also processing, screen and information, that is, how a work of art becomes more and more a digital process; So I think you are right, my work is also a digital medium that needs someone’s interaction to function, but it does not exist in the material world as such. My work itself inspired me in the geometry works of Vera Molnar, although I gave it my own touch and based myself more on digital art, going on the side of artistic movements.
