Silver Blink is a digital work inspired by Lilian Schwarts that consists of a black canvas with a size of 512 x 512 and nine concentric silver squares composed of seven lines each, which are all equal to each other and are positioned in a 3 x 3 formation.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
Technician: The work has a minimalist design showing how the silver squares slowly change to black, disappearing into the canvas and reappearing again. It seeks to simulate a slow blinking, this effect is achieved with functions that change the color of the lines.
Aesthetic: The simple change in color gives a calm feeling to the viewer and perhaps a mesmerizing effect as they see the squares disappear and reappear slowly but continuously.
Conceptual: Silver Blink is a generative visual work that explores the cycle of life, that in a simple blink we can lose everything and be left with nothing. But not everything is eternal and when we lose something there is always the possibility of gaining something in its place. I was inspired by the work “Pixelation” by Lilian Schwartz because the transition of the squares interested me a lot, how they contract within themselves and multiply to give birth to a new section of the work.
