I don’t know what to tell you so that you understand my work, maybe why I’m not interested? The truth is that I am not interested in giving an answer other than the title; I am interested in them searching and reflecting, in navigating between the layers of the work and, so to speak, finding that fertile origin. As Aira said “any origin is good”, and it is true you have to start somewhere, and she also told us

“The concrete reality of the work would be made up of the work itself and the time that involved its conception and execution, understanding this time as the historical passage, in which each of its points is unique and unrepeatable, and therefore unreproducible”.(Aira, 2010)

Here I would like to emphasize 2 key words, “origin” and “time”, because, ultimately, this makes art advance, it makes it evolve every day.

Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development

Time will cause this fertilizing origin to begin the inevitable chain of consequences that will end in “something” _ (understood as “something” as a point of which we still do not have knowledge but we know what will happen)_.

This is demonstrated very well in “New Media” by Christiane Fricke (1999), where she shows us how art, as time has passed, has been adapting and appropriating these new technological media that were being presented. Where the clearest example here is undoubtedly “software art”, described by Inke Arns as:

“an artistic activity that… makes possible a critical reflection on the software itself (and on its cultural impact)… for software art, the notion of “performativity” of the code is much more interesting than its “generative” nature” (Arns, 2015)

This software art uses code as a performance, the code does what we write and in this literality the attractive performance for the artist is found. In this way, in adapting the code to generate artistic practices, it shows us that from the origin, that primitive and rock beginning, until today, an enormous distance, measured in time, separates them. Even so, although we have advanced technologically, this does not prevent us from returning to this origin and mixing it (so to speak) with today’s technologies, without falling into re-reproduction.

Therefore, and closing with the same, I propose that you search and be encouraged to internalize yourself in the work, to draw and stain it, to navigate in it. And once you have done it, I invite you to navigate inside your head and perhaps find some lost memory, that even if it is bad, continue searching until you find that moment, that memory, “that” that time covers up with each passing day.
