SENDEROS aims to establish a deep connection between the creator of the work and the viewer, inviting them to an introspective journey through their memories or a moment of reflection, thanks to my work as a narrator who accompanies each phase of the work, guiding the viewer throughout its development.

Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development

During the process of creating the new practical work, I found a page, inside it is a writing whose conclusion is the following:

Use art to express your feelings, it will help you feel better, know yourself and be happier, as it produces an increase in self-esteem and resilience, this exciting paragraph, written by MundoArti in Art and emotions

This was one of the reasons that inspired me to create PATHS.

César AIRA, in On Contemporary Art, highlights an article written by Mario Praz (1896-1982, Rome), (professor, critic, art historian, authority on English literature and European culture) who talks about Nicolas Poussin (France, 1594–1665, famous French painter), in it, he comments on Poussin’s way of working, and once the article is finished, AIRA comments the following:

Poussin’s painting, in its exquisite workmanship, in its museum-like timelessness, is the document, written in code, of a history of experience, nostalgia, hallucination

Furthermore, in the beginning of the permanent creation of New Media by Christiane Fricke it is commented that:

Filliou (French poet and artist, involved with the group Fluxus, an international phenomenon that is committed to the fusion of genres, such as painting, sculpture, theater, cinema, etc. It is known as an artistic movement, but in reality it was not, the only connection it had was the nomadic movements of the artists who met thanks to it, it was developed between 1962 and 1963), whose motto was permanent creation, he saw in creation, a process of evolution in which everyone could participate, for this it offered us the indispensable tools, imagination and innocence.

These moments in the writings were fundamental and served as an anchor for the theme of my work, since this, through oral narration and accompanied by photographic examples, comments on the experience that I have lived this year as a university student, the importance of keeping in mind the person you were as a child, the memory of a loved one, and a series of reflective and motivational comments for those who are going through a moment of uncertainty in their lives and do not know which path to take in view of their future.

In general, this work combines past-present, and here comes a very important part of César AIRA’s writing in On Contemporary Art, he points out:

Contemporary Art, by wanting to be contemporary, has annulled time, compressing it to the present, and must be everywhere at the same time

Now I will explain a little about how I developed my work:

For its production, I used three audios in which I comment on a different experience from my life accompanied by photos that are related to what was narrated, for the backgrounds, I implemented a series of gifs with old movie effects, to generate a feeling of nostalgia in the viewer, and, of course, I wrote the instructions for use in the main menu, to know how to access each of the paths of the work.
