Artwork presentation

Estrella en la infinita

Artist: Sofía Pacheco

The artistic creation presented is based on the works of artist Grace Hertlein, who began her career as an artist in the mid-1940s and was a leader of the second wave of programmatic artists. One of his most representative phrases was that “The teaching of computer art is a bridge that unites ‘art and science’.” This artist stood out by striving to recreate nature, opposing the precision and formality of the computer, with inaccuracy being common in her works. The choice made was due to the way to captivate my attention from the depth that I captured in his works, the arrangement of the figures and the number of circumferences used that were inspiration for my artistic creation. Furthermore, it generated sensations of depth with the transparencies used and the repetition of circles that in my mind would resemble tunnels and planets.

Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development This artistic creation, thus defined by Brea, began as a smooth white canvas with a horizontal and vertical measurement of five hundred and twelve that led the imagination to fly. Using the recently named work of the artist Hertlein as a reference and being inspired by it, on my canvas I sought to combine different elements simulating a starry night sky. From this and after several attempts, I managed to make the background of my canvas resemble a starry night using small ellipses whose colors cover the gray scale and are distributed randomly throughout the entire canvas. The central ellipse that constitutes the primordial figure is made up of 7 smaller circles, within each of them there are small ellipses that make them up and that remain in constant movement traveling through them. This would produce a visual effect by observing how the ellipse begins to fill with color progressively, starting from the center of the figure towards the edges. Finishing with the main structure, I created a series of triangles that make it up and that the user could only see by interacting with the work and clicking on it, in this way it would resemble a star surrounded by the universe. Finally, by pressing on any letter on the keyboard, the main ellipses repeated in different positions on the canvas can be displayed, which will have a visual effect on the viewer. This artistic production results from an inspiration from a previously created work to which I managed to incorporate my own innovation, thus beginning the long journey that will allow me to find the identity of my art. These new forms of digital and interactive art have created new possibilities for both artists - whether to create and share their art - and for observers, who not only have the opportunity to experience new forms of art but also new experiences by being able to interact. with artistic creations.
