Conflicto

Artist: Agustin Matamala

In this generative art the aim is to attract the viewer’s attention to a point that seeks reflection. This work is made up of circles that seek to generate an optical/visual heartbeat effect in the viewer, playing with the dynamism of the work as with constant movements.

Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development

The work is structured in three fundamental sections that interact with each other to build a complex visual and conceptual narrative. The first section is composed of vertical lines that emerge in an apparently random manner, symbolizing the confrontation and disagreement between opposing positions. These lines represent the perpetual clash of ideas and opinions, evoking a sense of conflict that, although chaotic, follows an inherent pattern, as if disorder were an inevitable part of the dialogue process. The tension they generate becomes a starting point for reflection on how disagreements shape our reality.

In the second section, the circles are the protagonists, expanding continuously from a central point outward. These circles evoke the rhythmic beat of life itself, but also the unstoppable pulse of technology that advances relentlessly. The way these elements move outward represents how technological progress surrounds and affects us, even as we engage in endless discussions. Here, the circular movement suggests that, while we debate and confront each other, technology continues to advance, almost indifferent to our divisions.

Finally, the stelae symbolize the passage of time, an element that moves unalterably, reminding us that, despite our struggles and disagreements, time continues its course without stopping. This section foregrounds the idea that time, more than human postures, is the only thing truly immutable. Is conflict and the imposition of ideas really necessary for the advancement of humanity, or does time offer us a different perspective in which progress can be achieved without perpetuating confrontations?
