¿Que canal pongo?
What channel do I put? Where do I look? What catches my attention first and what after?
In the constant search for innovation, the paradox of technology lies in the fact that, although it connects us globally, it can also isolate us individually; Its toxicity is revealed when we lose the ability to be present in the moment. It is crucial to find a balance so as not to fall into the trap of digital dependence, so as not to become “just another machine.” The diffuse power of capitalism that Guy Debord speaks of cannot be located or identified so easily. Taylor Diana tells us about the new uses of performance;
“It is everywhere, in products, in circulation networks, in behaviors and desires that belong to the illusory world of success that is created daily in the social imagination.”
If you are not aware of technology and its uses, my head spins, my body and emotions revolve around this social imaginary.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development:
The work chooses to analyze three questions:
-
What do my thoughts revolve around day to day?
-
What sensations does the content I consume produce in my body, day by day?
-
How can I use technology consciously, day by day?
What channel do I choose to put in my life, day by day?
We well know and realize when we go out into the street and see people in motion always accompanied by their third arm (the cell phone) that:
“The digital has become an extension of the human body. We live simultaneously in a ‘real’ world and a ‘virtual’ world…() We all have electronic bodies.” -Taylor, Diana.
But how do we act in the face of this new era? In the information age, technology can be both a blessing and a curse; Its toxicity lies in how we choose to use it. We must distinguish between “the organic body and the electronic body, real and virtual space, this life and the second life.” We cannot deny that in the era of techno-culture these digitalizations (as much as they are) have an important impact on the flesh and blood body: confusions, anxieties, worries. But how do we turn this around? Changing the focus.
Technology well used is a means to enhance creativity and expression, opening new frontiers for art and communication. It is the paintbrush of the 21st century, allowing artists to paint with light, sound and data, creating unique visual and auditory experiences. If we change the focus, if we deprogram to assemble, to reprogram from conscious and satisfactory use, technology can be a great ally for us, for human beings.
“Technological transformations offer new obstacles and new opportunities for expression” it is up to us to discover, investigate, change the light, the focus, choose day by day, which channel to use.
