Oniria de baja resolucion
Brief description: Low resolution Oniria is a work in which, at first glance, we are presented with a three-dimensional space where the gaze is held on the protagonist of the first image, a cube. It is accompanied by synthesized sounds, helping to create the disturbing atmosphere that a void usually presents to us. Due to the installation nature of the work, it is possible for us to interact with this space through our input elements (keyboard and mouse) which allow us to travel through the space and immerse ourselves in it. This gives us the possibility of being able to reveal that mystery which is imposed once we execute the work. Once we enter, we will find a contradictory image as a general rule; a sphere that seems to project images from a television from several years ago and several planes containing the image of a caricatured sun with a lost gaze. They rotate at a dizzying speed, causing the superimposition of one another to have a certain “glitch” effect.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
“Contemporary technology-based generative art explores the same territory as complexity science and is at the peak of the complexity curve.” As Galanter says, this type of work explores and encompasses that subtlety of complex systems, in which each part interacts minutely in a fine dance that aims to self-regulate the complex system for its natural order. These same works, on the other hand, are supported by the technological phenomenon that humanity and artists are going through. Quoting TAYLOR, Diana: “Not only has the body changed, our sense of space has also changed, the digital has become an extension of the human body, […] Today it is necessary to distinguish between the organic body and the electronic body, real and virtual space, this life and the second life, the universe and the digital metaverse.” This indicates that new works of this nature are understood as another extension and reflection of our physical being, where an accumulation of feelings, memories and knowledge are stored.
Taking into account the aforementioned, works of this nature, such as “Low resolution Oniria”, evoke a certain extension of ourselves where our deepest secrets can be reflected where they can be channeled, just as the unconscious works with dreams. This work, being strongly inspired by the marked polygonal aesthetics of the early years of 3D graphics, the installation works of the South Korean Nam June Paik; The video game “LSD: Dream emulator” and the “Glitchcore” aesthetic make it an installation work of a quite peculiar concept and can be considered an anachronistic work that, through its 3D figures, its disturbing sound loop and its old-fashioned visuals, is willing to transport you to the depths of a feverish dream.
