Estelas Programadas
Programmed Stelas is a work built from points that follow the construction parameters of a three-dimensional sphere, which has been subsequently modified. The work is explored and scaled visually by controlling the orbit through mouse movement and interacting between two scenes using the “a” and “s” keys. In both scenes, the geometric structure is dynamically transformed, creating complex patterns with a unique visual experience that is in constant movement.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
Taking as reference the text “The code as a performative speech act” by Arns, Inke and, for example, the definition of Generative Art from the Codemuse page: “a process with parameters with which the artist should experiment “until the final results are aesthetically satisfactory and, as far as possible, surprising”, Programmed Steles is the result of a process of exploration and experimentation carried out around the modification of parameters and mathematical properties that affect the shape and arrangement of the points, allowing us to explore the beauty of the complex generated, through subtle movements. The change between the two scenes demonstrates controlled experimentation with trigonometric functions and variable parameters that affect the shape and spatial arrangement of the points.
The exploration, work and modification around primitive geometric figures that have been explored by numerous pioneering artists of computer generated art such as Frieder Nake, George Nees. Joining this tradition, I try to explore and have the people who see the work explore with me the beauty of the infinite possibilities and versatility of the field.
In turn, the work is linked to the theories of complexity and generative art, as discussed in Galanter’s text “Between two fires: art-science and the war between science and humanities”, reflecting the proposed synthesis between modernism and postmodernism, fusing the ordered geometric structure studied by the sciences with the unpredictability and complexity emerging from its modification. Allowing us an aesthetic experience that also represents a bridge between art and science.
