Artwork presentation

Todo desaparece

Artist: Veronica Isabel Garcete

The work “Everything disappears” created in the P5JS JavaScript library is designed from the immersion in which the artist immerses himself from creative development.

It represents the process that a creator experiences at the right moment when inspiration invades him, thus causing the environment and the self to fade, immersing himself in a timeless trance where the critical gaze, both internal and external, dissolves.

The eye, in its infinite rotation, symbolizes introspection and constant exploration, while the waves represent the expansion of creativity and the blurring of the boundaries between the individual and their environment. This work invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the creative process, to leave external influences behind and thus share the experience of artistic transformation.

Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development

This work seeks to capture the artist’s introspection by observing his creation process accompanied by expansive waves, thus being a metaphor for the expansion of information and inspiration, causing an impact of creativity that spreads so that the digital world expands our knowledge.

The eye being the gaze inside the infinite tunnel of the network, symbolizing the immensity and depth of the Internet, as creators we navigate this enormous sea of data in search of information reflecting continuous exploration.

As Kaprow Allan mentions in the text Happening on the New York scene:

(…) apart from any external reference, the artist can perhaps achieve a beautiful intimacy (…) while being free to explore something that no one will know how to notice.”

This quote from Kaprow speaks of the artist distancing himself from external influences or expectations of the world around him, thus evoking authenticity and intimacy in his expression. True creative freedom is found when it is explored without restrictions or external concerns, thus causing the enjoyment of the creative experience.

When we enter a creative “trance” it is a moment of deep connection with oneself where worries and external influences disappear.

As Taylor Diana mentions in the text “The new uses of performance”:

“Recognize that each context and social scenario creates its corresponding subjectivities”

“Performance works within an underlying system of power (…)”

“Personal desires and aspirations are sometimes the result of a desiring machine.”

Thus suggesting that our desires are not isolated and autonomous entities, but are related in larger systems of power. Desires are produced through various social structures that influence them.

My work highlights the perseverance, performance and execution of the artist despite these social contexts that influence him by seeking to overcome challenges and limitations to achieve pleasure. Not losing faith is our challenge as artists.

Technical development

This generative image has as its main element an eye inside a 3D webgl sphere with a constant rotation in place of it. When passing the mouse over the canvas, the network background from which said eye is traveling rotates at the same time depending on the position of the mouse. The work is accompanied by a soundtrack created by Toby Fox, developer of undertale, which gives it a perfect atmosphere to stay observing it, contemplating the movements.
