a que suenan las ciudades

Artist: Julian Colombo

Work made in P5.js, sampler of wave frequencies inspired by the works of Grace C. Hertlein. The generative work “reads” the wave frequencies that are randomly generated when clicking on the canvas and resamples 12 sounds located on the keyboard, from A to J and the keys W, E T, Y, U. Forming a kind of keyboard. The space bar works like a clip (tempo)

Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development

Starting from the basis of my first work “Texture Sampler” I made a new work, enriching it with the sound universe and putting the person who interacts with the work at the center of the scene. In this generative work in which wave frequencies are randomly drawn that resample sounds so that the person can play and create their own sound universe, I found a constant: Often after playing with the work for a while you feel overwhelmed, the drawings that go a thousand, the sounds that constantly change and that recurrently overlap creating layers of complexity, and that even at times dark soundscapes were created, all this set of things were crucial to choosing the name of the work, it is what I “generated” in this system, although it can change depending on the options taken by whoever is interacting with the work, even being able to do without touching keys.
