¿CALMA O ANSIEDAD?

Artist: Julieta Agustina Bascuas

“Calm or anxiety?” It is a work which invites the viewer to reconsider their emotional situation regarding their week, trying to identify situations where they have received peace or anxiety, with two different sounds in the background it will transport them to that thought, thus giving them the space to look for a way of how they could handle it for the next similar situation. To interact, use keys 1 and 2 to go to your mood. Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development

For this presentation I was in weeks of midterms, final work deliveries and a lot of things that students go through.

When it came to making the sketches, I went through the famous brainstorming session that ended up coming to nothing, since the instructions gave total freedom to the imagination, and what a contradiction, right? Having total freedom, nothing seems enough to show us.

I came to the conclusion that we all go through that famous anxiety situation.

The fact of wanting to finish everything on time, and for it to be perfect.

On a social level it is inevitable not to go through anxious situations since we constantly live at 200 per hour, trying to solve as many problems as possible at the same time and not to mention the fact that we do not like to waste time. Which led me to the idea that in certain situations, sometimes more is less and less is more, what do I mean by this?

It is not necessary that what we do comply with a stereotype of work, nor with something that we do not like, the idea is to enjoy the process and improve as an artist.

Calm situations appear when we finally see the light towards what we really wanted and we could say that maybe it was worth that demonstrated anxiety.

In conjunction with this, on the technical side, it could be said that several lines of code were used, including functions that allow audio, image and font files to be loaded. Developed with a mapping of basic colors and primitive 3D figures, some of which are in motion and others not.

To inspire me a little, I used Marshall McLuhan as the author in “The medium is the message” since he talks about how society established technological media and made them a part of our being, thus generating, from my point of view, a reduction of the senses and I could even say a change in them. As I said before, we are a society that lives almost most of the time with anxiety, that is partly due to the technology that is presented to us and how we let it affect us. totally like human beings.
