Estímulo de sensaciones
The work “Stimulation of sensations” seeks to symbolize the different sensations that can be produced from rest at the beginning with the stroke and subsequently the alteration with the intensity of movements of the lines that come from the interaction through the mouse, causing different effects when moving to the right or left.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
For the development of this work I was inspired by one of the pioneers of computer art and algorithmic arts, Vera Molnár. This artist of Hungarian origin focused her initial works involving transformations of objects or geometric shapes into abstractions by introducing slight alterations in size, shape and position. At the same time, link this work with the reflection that arose from Nathalie Heinich’s text in “The work beyond the object.” This renowned sociologist of contemporary art focuses her main research on the sociology of art, as well as the constitution and perspective of the artist. It highlights that the work in contemporary art no longer lives solely in the object proposed by the artist but in the multiple ways of projecting the work. From this concept comes the importance of the discursive modes that provide the work with a signifier, meaning and reference. In this way, the artist’s story or ideas form a fundamental part of the work since they give meaning and condition to its context and therefore to the work.
On the other hand, Raymond Williams recounts in the text “From the medium to social practice” the meanings that the medium, as such, can generate as meaning or message. In this case, in a work the medium influences the creation process, in this way the artist’s ideas are expressed or communicated through his work but mainly through the meaning or interpretation that is wanted to be given by appealing to the conceptualization of those ideas. At the same time, it infers that the medium does not always have an implicit message and that the contents and uses of these media can have infinite connotations. In relation to these texts and to conclude the journey of this work, it led me to reflect on the possibility of expressing my reality according to my way of understanding it and generating in those who perceive this work a different meaning according to their own experiences and experiences. In this way, each one gets involved in the work, creating and recreating its meaning to once again form another.
