Pequeño Ponshu
Little Ponshu is a clown that performs with a variety of basic geometric shapes, such as circles, triangles, rectangles and lines. On the other hand, these will be repeated in a certain way and, furthermore, carefully ordered to give our little friend an adorable appearance, also use certain coding of the p5.js program to make it come to life.
For this we will take our mouse and simply move it around the screen and keep in mind that Ponshu’s eyes will follow the movement of the pointer.
It was even specified to us that in this work we should use colors between black and white, in this way it gave us the opportunity to use a scale of around 256 shades of gray.
What “Little Ponshu” seeks is to take you on a trip to the past. This little friend is dedicated to our inner children, reminding us that we are never “old” enough to remember those fun times that fill our hearts with happiness.
Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development
Among so many artists, I was inspired by Hayao Miyazaki, founder of Studio Ghibli, which is considered one of the best animation studios in the world today. His stories, great animation, and excellent choice of soundtracks make me really enjoy him, to the point of becoming one of my most influential authors. Among all my favorite stories are “Spirited Away” and “Howl’s Moving Castle.”
Of the texts that we will have read during this time, I have decided to choose Arns.inke “the code as a Performative speech act”. According to Arns.inke at the beginning of his texts he mentions that…
“Software art does not refer to software merely as a pragmatic, invisible tool that generates certain visible results, but, on the contrary, focuses on the code of the program itself – even when this code is not explicitly left open or foregrounded” (page 3).
In other words, the code is not only a tool that generates an artistic piece, but its process and execution - which represents the action of programming with an artistic purpose - can also be considered an art, overlooking its extension or complexity. In addition, generative art is fundamentally interested in the results created by generative processes.
