Artwork presentation

Contame, ¿Qué soy?

Artist: Luciano Stigliano

“Tell me, what am I?” It is a work produced randomly or not, by the author and by P5.js. The images, along with the elements that compose them, seek to know what they are and what their significance is in the thoughts, ideas, concepts, sensations and words that arise in the recipients when they have made contact with them.

Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development

Basing myself as a starting point on the quotes made by Nathalie Heinich, about “The Declaration of Intent” by Lawrence Weiner, with respect to the first point that declares that the work may or may not be constructed by the artist, and the “Wall Drawings” by Sol LeWitt, one of the pioneers of conceptual art, who highlighted the problem with respect to the fact that the work of art resides in the idea and not the object, to then ask and pose: whether it matters whether the artist who thought of the idea materializes it or make another one. The work is a representation of this problem. Ask if the P5.js program followed my instructions (the idea), and therefore was a work carried out together, or if the execution was entirely mine. And in a second look, but just as important and significant as the previous one, focused entirely on the structuring of the work, the primitive figures of the program generated have as their central axis the concept of chance exposed by Peter Burger. With random parameters or not, generated by the Random () function and random values set by me, the figures, shapes and perhaps faces, which are generated, whether by superposition, contiguity or others, in the different positions of the canvas, seek to represent what the surrealists understood by hasard objectif (objective chance), that is, the different and varied meanings that the spectators can generate and associate, or not, in them.
