Caos lógico

Artist: Iván Barberón

The work aims to reflect on how we relate to the world, making use of technology and telecommunications. We do everything through networks and computers; We can be talking, playing chess or even having sex with others, through a screen. Not to mention the productive side, we can be making music, editing a film or designing a bridge, thanks to this technical advance, which brings so many advantages.

Technical, aesthetic and conceptual development

We are the center, and we extend connection networks around us. These individual connections, apparently spontaneous and random, in reality generally respond to intricate logarithms that condition our relationship with the virtual world and with others. A network that appears chaos, but is finally perfectly thought out.

The work aims to show the connections that are generated between the center (one) and its surroundings. The lines always leave the central point, and unfold towards the rest of the canvas. This question of randomness demonstrates the autonomous nature of this network of connections that we do not manage but we are the protagonists. As time passes, the canvas fills with lines. This part of the experience refers me to the following fragment:

“It is the experience of a passage between various surfaces, in an accumulation of superimposed layers, which is comparable to the successive pages of a book, and to the composite (aggregative) condition of any canvas.” p. 29 Journey across the North Sea - Art in the era of post medial condition. R Krauss

Another interesting aspect is the autonomy of the work, since it is completely autonomous, in the literal sense of the word, and requires almost no intervention. Aesthetically, in some passages, especially at the beginning, the work is similar to the work Kinetic Sculpture Michael Noll.
